Nikola Tesla exemplifies a unifying force and motivation for all nations in the name of peace and science. He was a true inspiration for all his contemporaries in the field of scientific research and development. We all owe a lot for Tesla\u2019s research which played a very vital role in shaping modern world. Tesla\u2019s life story is no less than inspiration to every science enthusiast. Let us just rewind the early days of Tesla and see how his life was moulded as a scientist.<\/p>\n

Nikola Tesla a Serbian-American engineer and\u00a0physicist\u00a0<\/a>was born on July 10^{th<\/sup>\u00a01856. Tesla developed interest in science because of his mother. His mother Djuka Mandic was very intelligent and she would build small home appliances in her spare time, this made Tesla develop keen interest in science. So technically Tesla\u2019s mom is the reason behind him being a great scientist. Tesla was pushed to take up priest hood by his father Milutin Tesla who was a priest and writer. But Tesla completely denied his father\u2019s wish as his interest was in science. Tesla\u2019s studies started from 1873 where he initially joined Realsuchle, Karlstadt then he took up polytechnic in Institute in Graz. Nikola developed keen interest towards electrical engineering. Though he intended to study physics and mathematics initially, he then realised that his interest lied in learning more about electricity.<\/p>\n}

Tesla moved to United States and joined Thomas Edison in 1884. He then moved out to start his own laboratory to develop electrical devices. Tesla developed immense knowledge about telephony and electrical engineering while working with Edison. He was working in a\u00a0telephone exchange company in Budapest<\/a>\u00a0and that is when Tesla first got the idea of induction motor. While his stay in New York he worked on wireless lightning, electricity and many other power experiments. In 1893 Nikola Tesla published his statements and declarations on possibilities of having wireless communication in devices.<\/p>\n

Tesla made remarkable contribution for modern electricity system. He invented the AC electrical systems. All his further works were done in his own company named \u2018Tesla Electric Company\u2019. He was very successful and by then had many patents for inventions based on AC. Tesla\u2019s company became a competitor for Edison\u2019s company. Knowing about Tesla\u2019s work an American engineer named George Westinghouse approached Tesla for a solution to long distance power supply. Westinghouse was more than convinced with Tesla\u2019s solution, he then decided to purchase all his patents. From then Tesla and Westinghouse collaborated and worked together. It was a real competition for Edison who was resolute on selling DC system all over the nation. Edison could not resist this competition, he then waged a negative press campaign to weaken people\u2019s interest in AC power. Nothing could stop Nikola Tesla from continuing his research. He then did several patents in that period and one among those was the \u2018Tesla coil\u2019.<\/p>\n

In 1893 Westinghouse Corporation was chosen to supply electricity for World\u2019s Colombian Exposition in Chicago. That is when Tesla got an opportunity to demonstrate his AC systems to the world. After two years\u00a0Tesla implemented the first AC hydroelectric power plant at Niagara Falls<\/a>, Unites States. Tesla got lot of positive response and publicity for his work. Since then AC power systems was declared as worldwide standard.<\/p>\n

Tesla could not enjoy his success for a longer period as he had many unfortunate situations taking place in his life. In 1895 Tesla\u2019s lab in New York was totally burned, damaging all their notes and equipment\u2019s which was a huge loss for his carrier. After this massive loss, Tesla relocated to Colorado and stayed there for two years. In 1890 he came back to New York and began to build Global communication network with the funding received from J.P. Morgan. Due to shortage of funds Morgan turned down Tesla\u2019s magnificent schemes.<\/p>\n

In the last stages of life Tesla stayed in New York hotel and continued all his inventions and experiments. But as time went he was losing on his health, both mental and physical. He spend his last few days feeding pigeons in City\u2019s park and claimed that he was able to communicate with those pigeons. On January 7^{th<\/sup>\u00a01943 Tesla died at the age of 86. Even in his last days he proposed the powerful \u201cDeath Ray\u201d. Soviet Union was very interested in Death ray. It was not possible to implement as Nikola Tesla died by then. And Death ray also perished along with him.<\/p>\n}
