double ended cone
Here, a double ended cone is placed on a sloping frame. Roll the double ended cone and place it at the lowermost end and take your hands away.
What did you observe?
The cone rolls towards the centre.
The science behind it :
The centre of gravity of the cone lies at the midpoint of its axis. When you place the cone at the lowermost end, its centre of gravity is raised from the original position and the equilibrium is disturbed. To gain the equilibrium position, it travels up the sloping frame.
