friction and speed
Here, there are three inclined planes with three sliding blocks. The inclined planes have equal gradient and stopper arrangements to release the blocks. Allow the three solids to slide along the inclined planes simultaneously.
What did you observe?
The block sliding down the smooth surface reaches the bottom first. The speed varies correspondingly when blocks move on corrugated or sandy path.
The science behind it :
The three inclined paths are made up of three different textured surfaces. When the path is smooth, the friction exerted on the block is less and hence it reaches the bottom first. The friction exerted by the corrugated or sandy path is more and hence the speed of the blocks sliding over these surfaces vary.
